Terms and Conditions

Provision of Services
getPsychology is not an emergency mental health service, and does not provide 24-hour cover. We cannot offer on call support for service users experiencing current suicidal thoughts, psychotic impulses, or other symptoms that would reflect acute and severe psychological disturbance. In these instances, service users are advised to make urgent contact with their GP or the emergency services.

All information provided through this website is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between the service user and his/her doctor. It is understood that general practitioners maintain an overview of a patient’s needs, and it may be helpful for us to inform a client’s doctor that consultation has occurred. Consent is sought prior to any contact being made, except in exceptional circumstances of risk to the service user or a third party.

All services and sessions are held in the strictest of confidence. We do not disclose to any third party without in-depth discussion with a client. In line with BPS ethical principles & HCPC professional guidelines, there may be exceptions to the practice in special circumstances, which include but are not limited to: risk issues, suicidal ideation and unknown self harm. It might be necessary to have discussions around external disclosure in the event that someone presents a serious risk to safety. Like all psychologists and counsellors, we are obliged to maintain written record of sessions. These files are kept confidential, coded for identity protection, securely stored and destroyed after 6 years.
